Role Overview:

The selected candidate will engage in the examination and delivery of ESG-focused ETFs, portfolio strategies, thematic approaches, and quantitative methodologies. A solid understanding of portfolio risk concepts, ESG data, investment strategies, and fundamental analysis is essential. The ESG Strategist will be responsible for publishing and communicating investment insights to Bloomberg terminal clients through various channels, including meetings, calls, and online interactions, while also sharing research findings with Bloomberg News and Media at both internal and external events.

What We Offer:

We are seeking a proactive individual with relevant experience to join our ESG Strategy Analyst team, focusing on ESG ETFs and Portfolio Quant strategies. This role presents an opportunity to enhance our leading ESG Strategy research capabilities, with potential travel for conferences and client engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate ESG considerations into broader equity and portfolio strategies.
  • Provide actionable insights on ESG market trends and investment methodologies, and publish research findings.
  • Analyze the interplay between ESG data and the performance and risk profiles of companies, funds, ETFs, themes, and equity strategies.
  • Develop and test ESG and sustainability-oriented thematic portfolios and indices.
  • Utilize Bloomberg applications, such as PORT, DRIV, and FTW, for ESG quantitative modeling and analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of quantitative research, models, and indices to extract actionable signals, including ESG news sentiment analysis.
  • Manage significant data analysis tasks as part of daily operations.
  • Actively participate in the team's research activities, including data analysis, written reports, and idea generation.
  • Foster relationships with internal departments and external industry professionals.
  • Collaborate with other data and core business teams to enhance content and functionality across the Bloomberg terminal.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in ESG research, preferably on the sell-side of index firms.
  • Experience in financial market research with the ability to convey investment-relevant insights.
  • Strong understanding of finance/accounting principles and quantitative financial analysis.
  • Proficient knowledge of ESG-related strategies, financial markets, investment theories, and asset valuations.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel or equivalent tools.
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python, MATLAB, or R, with a preference for Python.
  • Familiarity with statistical learning concepts and their application in programming languages.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A passion for critical thinking regarding ESG and financial markets, along with a desire to build a personal research franchise within a dynamic team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, and/or CFA designation.
  • ESG CFA Certificate.
  • Prior experience with the Bloomberg Terminal.
