Cybersecurity Systems Officer

Matrix Research, Inc. is a prominent employee-owned enterprise dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation in radar systems, radio frequency, and sensor exploitation technologies. We engage in a wide range of projects, from fundamental research to the low-rate production of sophisticated sensing systems, subsystems, and components.

This role is based in a dynamic environment where the Cybersecurity Systems Officer (CSO) will be responsible for the daily management of classified systems that handle sensitive information across various levels. Candidates must be U.S. citizens capable of obtaining and maintaining a security clearance.

The ideal candidate will be a self-driven, detail-oriented professional adept at managing multiple priorities effectively. Familiarity with both Windows and Linux operating systems is essential, with a strong preference for experience in managing a disconnected Linux environment. The CSO will collaborate with a diverse range of personnel, including senior management, program managers, engineers, and support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure secure, uninterrupted operations of Linux servers and workstations.
  • Support both bare-metal and virtual machine environments.
  • Possess a deep understanding of technical configurations for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, and Windows operating systems/servers.
  • Propose and implement solutions for performance enhancement and automation.
  • Conduct server and application hardening in accordance with DISA standards.
  • Develop and manage Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) to maintain compliance.
  • Engage in continuous testing and validation of system controls.
  • Identify information system vulnerabilities and execute countermeasures.
  • Install and maintain operating systems and software packages, ensuring timely updates.
  • Manage system hardware installations and maintenance.
  • Facilitate backups, audits, and virus scanning processes.
  • Maintain strict media control and run weekly audits.
  • Generate and update information system authorization packages as necessary.
  • Notify stakeholders of any changes that may impact information system authorization.
  • Review system test plans annually and perform self-inspections.
  • Prepare for and support government inspections.
  • Document reports of media, system changes, and other required logs.
  • Conduct information security training sessions.
  • Implement and update security settings in accordance with STIG requirements.
  • Validate security configurations using Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) and STIG Viewer.
  • Create and maintain Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation, including Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a minimum of four years of relevant experience. Candidates must meet the certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive M for Information Assurance Technician Certifications (Security+). Proficiency in Microsoft Windows platform technical support is required, while Linux experience is highly desirable.

Security Clearance:

Current Secret Clearance is mandatory, with eligibility for upgrade. Candidates must be willing to submit for Special Access Program Information and undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph examination.
