This role is situated in a dynamic environment where the ISSO will be responsible for the daily management of classified systems that handle information across various security levels. Candidates must be U.S. citizens capable of obtaining and maintaining a security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure the secure operation of Linux servers and workstations.
  • Support both bare-metal and virtual machine environments.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of technical configurations for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, and Windows operating systems/servers.
  • Propose and execute solutions for performance enhancement and automation.
  • Implement security hardening measures for servers and applications in accordance with DISA standards.
  • Develop and manage Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) to maintain system compliance.
  • Conduct continuous testing and validation of system controls.
  • Identify information system vulnerabilities and implement appropriate countermeasures.
  • Install and maintain operating systems and software packages, ensuring timely updates.
  • Manage system hardware installations and maintenance.
  • Support backup processes, audits, and virus scanning activities.
  • Maintain strict media control and conduct weekly audits.
  • Generate and update information system authorization packages as necessary.
  • Notify stakeholders of any changes that may impact information system authorization.
  • Review system test plans on an annual basis.
  • Conduct self-inspections of information systems.
  • Prepare for and support government inspections.
  • Document and log reports related to media, system changes, and other required logs.
  • Provide training on information security protocols.
  • Implement and update security settings per STIG requirements.
  • Validate security configurations using Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) and STIG Viewer.
  • Create and maintain Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation, including Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Possession of certification requirements as outlined in DoD Directive M for Information Assurance Technician Certifications (Security+).
  • Proficiency in providing technical support for Microsoft Windows platforms.
  • Experience with Linux systems is preferred.
  • Current Secret Clearance, with eligibility for upgrade.
  • Willingness to undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph examination.
