Role Summary:
The Laboratory Support Technician (LST I) plays a crucial role within the healthcare team, providing essential support for laboratory reporting, data management, and scheduling tasks. This position is pivotal in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of laboratory assistance. The LST I is expected to demonstrate outstanding customer service skills consistent with the Mercy Signature Service during all interactions with both internal and external clients.
The LST I is tasked with the proficient collection of laboratory specimens for testing, employing safe, precise, and professional techniques while adhering to HIPAA confidentiality standards and laboratory protocols. Responsibilities also include the processing, transportation, and referral of various laboratory specimens and reports as necessary.
Qualifications Required:
- Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, or enrollment in a healthcare career program through high school.
- Experience: No prior experience required.
- Preferred Education: Completion of college-level courses in Chemistry, Biology, or related sciences.
- Preferred Experience: Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Preferred Certification: Phlebotomy certification (CPT).
