Meat Cutter Job Description at Terry's Grocery

The Meat Cutter plays a vital role in the success of our company, providing exceptional customer service and maintaining the efficiency of the meat department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist customers with their needs and provide a positive shopping experience by offering product recommendations and answering questions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized meat department, including coolers and freezers, to ensure a safe and healthy environment for customers and employees.
  • Prepare meat products in a safe and sanitary manner, adhering to company standards and regulations.
  • Stock supplies and maintain inventory levels to ensure adequate product availability and minimize waste.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the meat department, such as receiving and processing shipments, and participating in inventory management.
Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Planning and organization: Think ahead, anticipate issues, and plan for contingencies to ensure efficient workflow and minimize downtime.
  • Attention to detail: Ensure quality and accuracy in all tasks, including meat cutting, wrapping, and labeling.

  • Responsibility: Take ownership of tasks and contribute to the success of the team by meeting deadlines and achieving targets.
  • Effective communication: Clearly communicate with team members and management to ensure seamless operations and resolve issues promptly.

  • Physical abilities: Handle heavy weights, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting and carrying meat products.
Essential Technical Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and internet usage to perform administrative tasks and stay up-to-date with company information.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills to manage inventory, track orders, and maintain accurate records.
  • Meat cutting experience and skills to prepare high-quality meat products.
  • Outgoing, helpful, responsible, and productive personality to provide excellent customer service and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Driver's license to transport products and equipment as needed.
Work Environment

The work environment is safety-sensitive, with large machinery, cutting tools, and other hazardous objects. Employees must be in a constant state of alertness and possess the physical and mental ability to work in this environment safely.
