Diesel Mechanic Job Description

At Parsec (OH), we are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance functions and adjustments on diesel and hostler equipment in compliance with the manufacturers and company schedules.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance functions and adjustments on all types of hostlers, diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment.
  • Diagnostic and Repair: Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Testing and Inspection: Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and follow a checklist of inspection procedures.
  • Technical Knowledge: Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment such as Cummins Insite and have a basic knowledge of diesel engine repair.
  • Tools and Equipment: Must have your own tools (Heavy Duty tools are supplied).
  • Training and Development: Prior experience with Cummins diesel engines and D.E.F. systems is beneficial (Training is provided).
Requirements:
  • Valid Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift in excess of 50lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Availability: Open availability (24/7/365) available to work nights, weekends, and holidays that fall on your rotation.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in maintaining heavy equipment within the Construction, Transportation, or Intermodal Industry is preferred.
  • Certifications: Must be willing to complete a drug screen and background check.
