Job Summary

As an Automotive Diesel Mechanic at KBR, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, inspecting, and repairing combustion-powered automotive vehicles, over-the-road trucks, and comparable vehicles. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles, including diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues, including engine problems and electrical system malfunctions.
  • Work with technical manuals, lubrication orders, and modification instructions to repair rolling stock assets.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and mechanics to ensure efficient and effective repair processes.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Four years directly related work experience.
  • Certificate from a vocational school or other recognized source with a major study in electrical or automotive repair.
  • MVAC 609 Technician Certification.
  • Working knowledge of heavy-duty machinery, engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and other parts and systems.
  • Ability to detect faulty items, determine cause of malfunction, and determine best repair methods.
  • Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify components and systems.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of operation and required repairs of all components and sub-components.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of the basic automotive mechanics course, or equivalent.
  • Completion of the automotive organizational maintenance course, or equivalent.
  • Completion of the automotive intermediate maintenance course, or equivalent.
  • Advanced motor transport maintenance courses.
