Job Summary

A Surgical Technologist Lead is responsible for providing technical leadership in the care of the perioperative patient. This role requires extensive knowledge, experience, and proficiency in comprehensive surgical skills. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and attend to the patient's direct care needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the RN in all cases, including the most complex patients, with the implementation of an age-appropriate plan of care through tasks delegated by the RN.
  • Demonstrate an expert level of technical skills in care delivery and performing tasks delegated by the RN based on the patient's condition.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and technical expertise regarding sterile processing, procedures, equipment, supplies, instruments, and surgical sequence for all procedures applicable to this Lead Tech - OR/Surgical level.
  • Assist the RN and other Surgical Technologists to provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and employees.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Was employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before September 1, 2009, or is in the service of the federal government, to the extent the person is performing duties related to that service.
  • Completion of a surgical technologist program with certification exam eligibility - certification preferred.
  • Three years of surgical technology experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
