Position Overview:
This role is integral to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The Custodial Services Specialist is responsible for performing essential cleaning and maintenance tasks across various campus facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
The individual in this position will undertake a variety of custodial duties, including but not limited to:
- Classroom Maintenance: Daily cleaning of classrooms, which includes emptying wastebaskets, dusting surfaces, and ensuring floors are clean and tidy.
- Restroom Sanitation: Regular cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms to uphold hygiene standards, including resupplying dispensers and mopping floors.
- Office Cleaning: Daily upkeep of office spaces, ensuring wastebaskets are emptied, surfaces are dusted, and carpets are vacuumed.
- Corridor and Stairwell Care: Maintenance of hallways and stairwells through dust mopping, vacuuming, and ensuring cleanliness.
- Elevator and Outdoor Area Cleaning: Routine cleaning of elevators and outdoor spaces, including sweeping entrances and managing waste disposal.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting items up to 35 pounds and operating heavy cleaning equipment. The work may involve reaching above shoulder height and bending.
Additional Duties:
Employees may be assigned other related tasks as necessary, including coverage during staff shortages and event support outside of regular hours.
Mandatory Personnel:
This role is classified as mandatory personnel, meaning the employee is expected to report to work during adverse weather conditions or emergencies.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a valid driver's license and ideally have at least 12 months of relevant experience in custodial services.
