Health, Safety, and Environment Manager

Avalanche Fusion is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing our safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, and fostering a safety culture that prioritizes a safe and healthy workplace.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain effective safety processes, policies, and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and provide safety training and guidance to employees.
- Lead company safety meetings, organize meeting agendas and minutes, and follow-up on assigned action items, as needed.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, evaluate systems for process improvements, and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
- Perform safety audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance with safety standards and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
- Investigate EHS incidents and accidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and coordinate safety drills.
- Stay current with industry best practices and emerging safety technologies.
- Perform other safety-related duties and special projects as assigned.
- 7+ years of experience working in a safety management capacity.
- 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
- Expertise with safety policy implementation and management.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE principles, risk assessments, and relevant regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Experience in health physics principles or radiation safety programs for particle accelerator facilities.
- Possess the ability, training, and experience to become an RSO in Washington State.
- Experience in the fusion industry, energy sector, or similarly regulated industries.
