Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily activities and functions of the dairy department to achieve sales and profit goals.
  • Provide direction and guidance to department staff, ensuring excellent customer service and a clean, well-organized store environment.
  • Process and stock products according to company standards, maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy and minimizing stock loss.
  • Responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, responding to customer inquiries, and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Control inventory levels, ordering products as needed to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Responsible for the proper rotation of products to ensure freshness and remove out-of-code items.
  • Manage price changes within the department, ensuring accurate pricing and signage.
  • Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions, making recommendations on merit increases and promotions.
  • Regularly attend and participate in store meetings, contributing to the development and implementation of store strategies and initiatives.
  • Recruit, hire, and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
  • Exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns, taking corrective action as needed, including coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action.
  • Ensure maximum productivity and efficiency by creating and adjusting schedules and staffing levels.
  • Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members, ensuring a high level of knowledge and understanding.
  • Lead a team that collaborates to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and greatest experience for customers.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years' retail grocery experience, preferably in a management role.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to give and take direction in a team environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
  • Outgoing and friendly behavior, with a positive attitude towards team members and customers.
  • Ability to answer phones and take special orders.
  • Perform general housekeeping in the department, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas.
  • Ability to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed.
  • Knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products.
  • Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
  • Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations, and achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
