Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Access Center Representative I to join our team at Tahoe Forest Health. This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and families, scheduling appointments, and ensuring seamless access to healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule appointments for primary care, specialty providers, and hospital services
  • Provide information to callers, including directions, addresses, and appointment times
  • Answer incoming phone calls and route them appropriately
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients scheduling outpatient appointments
  • Educate patients on self-service programs offered by the District
  • Work with patients, families, providers, and clinical staff to coordinate the patient's experience
  • Interview patients to effectively schedule and register
  • Collect, verify, and update patient demographics, guarantor information, and insurance information
  • Establish eligibility and verify benefits
  • Determine and collect co-pays and estimated out-of-pocket expenses
  • Advises patients and families of hospital financial policies
  • Refers to financial counselors as appropriate
  • Obtain authorizations as assigned
  • Follow established parameters to ensure procedures, treatments, tests, and appointments are scheduled and authorized correctly
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 6 months to 1 year of experience in a related field
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and providers
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Team-oriented and positive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to learn new processes, procedures, and software programs quickly
