This position is a full-time, benefited, FLSA exempt role within the Health Sciences Division, reporting directly to the Dean of Health Sciences.

Salary: $62,000 annually.

Schedule: 40 hours per week, on-site, with responsibilities shared between multiple campuses; Monday through Friday.

Minimum Qualifications:
An associate degree in paramedicine from an accredited institution. A minimum of two years of full-time experience as a paramedic. Certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic or a current state paramedic license. Must possess or be able to obtain a Georgia EMS Instructor Coordinator – AEMT certification within six months of hire. BLS and ACLS instructor certifications are mandatory. Faculty must meet the credentialing requirements of all relevant accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum qualifications, a Bachelor's degree in a health-related field from an accredited institution is preferred. A minimum of five years of teaching experience in a CoAEMSP Accredited Paramedic Program is desirable. PHTLS and PALS instructor certifications are advantageous. Proficiency in instructional preparation and delivery, advisement, and curriculum development is expected. A demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a diverse environment is essential. Strong interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills are required. Familiarity with common software applications is necessary, and experience with online learning platforms is preferred. Flexibility in accommodating diverse student populations and learning styles, along with a variety of teaching strategies, is crucial.

Job Overview:

Under general supervision, the instructor will develop lesson plans for classroom, laboratory, or clinical instruction for accredited Emergency Medical Services: EMT & AEMT courses. The role involves implementing program curricula to align with state, national, and accreditation standards. Responsibilities include developing program syllabi, goals, and objectives, and delivering instruction through face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats to enhance student retention and program completion. The instructor will assess student progress towards achieving educational goals and objectives, manage supplies and equipment, and prepare budget requests. Compliance with program certification requirements is mandatory, along with maintaining necessary documentation and administrative reports. Participation in professional development activities, workshops, and conferences is expected. The instructor will ensure that safety and security protocols are upheld in the training environment and engage with students, staff, and other educators to address instructional programs and related issues. Contributions to recruitment, retention, and job placement initiatives, as well as involvement in college and community activities, are also part of the role.

The instructor is expected to demonstrate a high level of commitment to their work, operate effectively within the organizational framework, and exhibit trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering effective instruction that meets diverse student needs.
  • Preparing lesson plans and ensuring adherence to safety and technical requirements.
  • Evaluating student progress and communicating results to relevant personnel.
  • Maintaining classroom inventory and managing supply requests.
  • Participating in required training and professional development activities.
  • Meeting with students and staff to discuss instructional programs and student progress.
  • Assisting with recruitment and retention efforts.
