This position is a full-time, benefited, FLSA exempt role within the Health Sciences Division, reporting directly to the Dean of Health Sciences.

Salary: $62,000 annually.

Schedule: 40 hours per week, on campus, with responsibilities shared between the Lawrenceville and Alpharetta-North Fulton campuses; Monday through Friday.

Minimum Qualifications:
An associate degree in paramedicine from an accredited institution. A minimum of two years of full-time experience as a paramedic. Certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic or a current State of Georgia paramedic license, along with current Georgia EMS Instructor Coordinator – AEMT certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire. BLS and ACLS instructor certifications are mandatory. Faculty must meet the credentialing requirements set by the relevant accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum qualifications, a Bachelor's degree in a health-related field from an accredited institution is preferred. A minimum of five years of teaching experience in a CoAEMSP Accredited Paramedic Program is highly desirable. PHTLS and PALS instructor certifications are also preferred. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in instructional preparation and delivery, advisement, and curriculum development. A proven ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a diverse and collegial environment is essential. Strong interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills are required. Proficiency in common software applications is necessary, and experience with online learning modalities is advantageous. Flexibility in addressing diverse student populations and learning styles, along with experience in employing various teaching strategies, including advanced instructional technologies, is expected.

Job Description Summary:

Under general supervision, the instructor will prepare lesson plans for classroom, lab, or clinical instruction for credited Emergency Medical Services: EMT & AEMT courses. The role involves implementing program curricula to align with state, national, and accreditation standards. Responsibilities include developing program syllabi, goals, and objectives, as well as teaching face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes to enhance course delivery and scheduling options that support student retention and program completion. The instructor will evaluate students' progress in achieving their goals and objectives, manage supplies and equipment, and prepare budget requests. Maintaining program certification requirements and preparing necessary documentation and administrative reports are also key responsibilities. Participation in staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences is expected. The instructor will ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area and will engage with students, staff, and other educators to discuss instructional programs and related issues. Additionally, the instructor will assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts and participate in college and community activities.

The instructor is expected to demonstrate a high level of effort and commitment to their work, operate effectively within the organizational structure, and exhibit trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Teaching credited courses as assigned in accordance with course standards and approved syllabi.
  • Preparing lesson plans for classroom instruction and ensuring adherence to safety requirements.
  • Developing program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.
  • Evaluating students' progress and communicating results effectively.
  • Requesting and maintaining supplies and equipment while preparing budget requests.
  • Maintaining program certification requirements and participating in required training.
  • Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Staying informed of current trends and developments in the field through continuous professional development.
  • Meeting with students and staff to discuss instructional programs and student progress.
  • Assisting with recruitment and retention efforts.
