Accounting Professor Position at George Mason University

The Costello College of Business at George Mason University seeks a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Accounting to teach undergraduate and graduate programs, conduct research, and contribute to the academic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Teach accounting courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs, with a teaching load determined by the college's workload policy;
- Conduct high-quality research for publication in top-tier academic journals;
- Provide service to the Accounting Area, the Costello College of Business, the University, and the profession, including journal reviewing/editing, academic community engagement, student mentoring, committee membership, and interfacing with the business community.
The Costello College of Business is one of the largest business schools in Virginia, located near Washington, D.C. The college offers AACSB-accredited business and accounting curricula, preparing undergraduate and graduate students for career success in business and government.
Requirements- A PhD or equivalent in Accounting prior to the start of Fall 2025; for current doctoral students, clear evidence of PhD in Accounting completion by the Fall semester start date in 2025;
- Collegiality and ability to work well with colleagues;
- Ability to teach at least one of the following courses: Intermediate Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Accounting Analytics, or Tax;
- Evidence of a strong research trajectory with the potential for publications in top-tier accounting academic journals;
- Evidence of effective teaching or the potential to effectively teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The salary for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Summer funding is available contingent on availability of funds. The university offers a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
This is a full-time position with benefits. The estimated annual salary for this position is around $120,000, based on the location and industry standards.
