Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Surgery is seeking a distinguished academic cardiothoracic surgeon to lead our Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery as Chair. Responsibilities:
  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, aligning with the department's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement innovative clinical, research, and educational programs that enhance the Division's reputation and impact.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity among faculty, staff, and students, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with health system leaders, clinical and administrative partners, and external stakeholders to advance the Division's mission and goals.
  • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop talented faculty and staff, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in cardiothoracic surgery, applying knowledge to inform Divisional initiatives and programs.
Requirements:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in Thoracic Surgery.
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Medical License.
  • Experience in academic leadership, clinical practice, and research in cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
