This role is eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus, subject to qualifications.

Position Overview: The Clinical Assistant will support healthcare providers during patient assessments, diagnostic tests, treatments, and care coordination, ensuring the effective delivery of patient care and enhancing patient satisfaction. This role is responsible for providing essential ancillary services and applying specialized knowledge integral to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Educational Program or one year of relevant experience within the last five years.

Licensure and Certification: None required.

Experience: New graduate Medical Assistants or those with one year of relevant experience within the last five years may substitute for the completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven patient care abilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications.
  • Effective organizational skills for managing multiple tasks.
  • Understanding of healthcare delivery systems in a clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients and demonstrate sensitivity to their needs and conditions.
  • Evaluate and document the patient's general condition, including vital signs, medications, and medical history.
  • Accurately record services and diagnoses for proper completion of encounter forms and other documentation.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures following established protocols.
  • Independently perform ancillary services such as venipuncture and x-rays in accordance with protocols.
  • Maintain medical records, including chart preparation and filing of correspondence and test results.
  • Coordinate patient care through messaging, appointment scheduling, and prescription refills.
  • Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) and other applications to complete tasks per policies and procedures.
  • Track ordered or pending tests, procedures, and referrals according to established protocols.
  • Administer medications as directed by physician orders.
  • Determine eligibility and obtain authorizations for services.
  • Promote patient wellness through education as directed by the provider.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and safety functions.
  • Assist in identifying and ordering necessary supplies.
  • Remain informed and compliant with current health system policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high levels of patient satisfaction and collaborate as an engaged team member.

Decision-Making: Exercise independent judgment in making minor decisions where options are limited and standard protocols are in place.

Working Relationships: Interact directly with patients and customers, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and work alongside other healthcare professionals and staff.
