Patient Eligibility Advocate

Position Overview:
The Patient Eligibility Advocate plays a crucial role in collaborating with healthcare providers, patients, and team members to assess eligibility for various programs. This position involves direct interaction with patients to evaluate their potential for reimbursement and to guide them through the benefits application process. The advocate will work closely with the healthcare team to ensure that both patient and organizational needs are effectively addressed.
This role requires on-site presence at designated healthcare facilities and includes mileage reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with under-insured or uninsured patients to identify and explore all available eligibility program options.
- Review daily referrals to assess suitability for interviews and initiate the application process when applicable.
- Conduct patient interviews to analyze potential reimbursement opportunities and establish eligibility.
- Introduce services and set clear expectations for the process, ensuring patients understand the communication flow.
- Collaborate with patients to clarify the application process and address any inquiries they may have.
- Collect and manage necessary documentation from patients, providing follow-up support throughout the process.
- Identify additional patient needs and refer them to appropriate support agencies.
- Utilize technology and account processing workflows to maintain accurate and concise documentation.
- Act as a liaison between clients, account representatives, and management, fostering productive interactions with team members and healthcare staff.
- Deliver exceptional client service and work collaboratively with the team.
- Adhere to role-specific information security protocols and responsibilities.
- Ensure the confidentiality and safety of data by following organizational information security policies.
- Complete all required annual security and compliance training.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service.
- Ability to work on-site at healthcare facilities and travel as needed.
- Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
- Excellent communication skills with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- Strong advocacy for patients and a passion for helping others.
- Demonstrated work ethic and ability to work independently while making a positive impact.
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow.
- Consistent punctuality and attendance.
- Experience in healthcare or direct patient contact is highly desirable.
