Job Summary

The Biltmore Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Expeditor and Server Assistant to join our team. As an Expeditor and Server Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dining services, providing exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist servers and supervisors in providing quality food and beverage service to guests, ensuring prompt and courteous delivery of ordered and prepared food.
  • Stock and maintain all items needed for food running during work shifts, including plates, dishes, and essential equipment.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the dining room, side stations, kitchen service areas, dish breakdown area, and service equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, servers, and kitchen staff to ensure accurate and timely food delivery.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Assist servers and bartenders with the removal of soiled trays, glassware, dishes, and flatware from the floor.
  • Memorize all seat and table numbers to ensure delivery without the need to ask guests for their orders.
  • Properly stock and maintain essential items needed for service, including plates, dishes, and equipment.
  • Check in with the culinary team prior to the beginning of each shift for information pertinent to the smooth flow of service.
  • Review the menu and become thoroughly familiar with all items and menus of preparation being offered that day, including ingredients, preparation, sauces, and garnishes.
  • Ask guests if there is anything else they would like prior to leaving the table, and communicate their needs to the server or bring the item directly to the table.
  • Assist in closing down the line and cleaning the kitchen.
  • Maintain a constant focus on professionalism and customer service at all times.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar position, particularly in a fine dining or upscale restaurant, is strongly preferred.
  • Commitment to delivering world-class guest service internally and externally and the ability to work successfully as part of a dynamic, guest-service-oriented team.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to perform essential job functions with speed and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to be proactive and take initiative as appropriate.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with other team members to ensure accuracy and timeliness of food delivery.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull 25-50 pounds, lift and carry 25-50 pounds on a large serving tray, above shoulder level, upstairs, with one hand.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout work areas and over the duration of the work shift.
  • Ability to work in an environment that may include variable temperature conditions and noise levels, outdoor environments, and exposure to fumes, dust, and chemicals.
  • Due to the location of the Dining Room and Kitchen, the candidate will need to carry items, with the use of a tray, 250 feet, including 28 steps, which will be the most physically demanding aspect of the position and cannot be avoided.
