Early Years Group Leader Job Description

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Group Leader to join our team. As a key member of our childcare team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality activities and ensuring the safety and well-being of our young campers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement the Early Years Foundation Stages and ensure a safe and engaging environment for our campers.
  • Assist with setting up and maintaining a suitable base room area, ensuring it is tidy and equipment is stored properly.
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a fun and safe experience for our campers.
  • Deliver a variety of activity sessions, working with other team members to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for our campers.
  • Be a key worker for our campers, managing their experiences and exchanging relevant information with parents.
  • Ensure the needs of our campers are met, providing active supervision and attention throughout the day.
  • Plan and deliver activities that are age-appropriate and engaging, using resources available to promote maximum participation.
  • Get to know our campers as individuals, incorporating their interests into their day.
  • Take responsibility for general welfare and safeguarding, ensuring the safe use of equipment and facilitating children's development.
Requirements:
  • Working towards or holding a relevant childcare qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Aged 18 or over by the start date of your contract.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
  • Enthusiastic, caring, and organized with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges within a childcare setting.
  • Enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  • Complete Online Training annually.
  • Attend Induction Training Day.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the company fulfils all Health and Safety obligations.
  • Deliver activities that are appropriate for our campers, within the scope of your qualifications, skills, and knowledge.
  • Encourage campers to participate in new activities and follow the activity programme as directed.
  • Ensure campers behave in a safe manner, respecting their individuality and communicating with them daily about codes of behavior.
  • Follow all camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety systems, and guidelines on good practice in child welfare.
  • Be a positive role model, promoting a healthy lifestyle, good hygiene precautions, and considering the welfare of our campers.
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to your Senior Team or a Designated Person at the Central Office.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the needs of our campers, including dietary needs or medical conditions.
