Early Years Manager Job Description

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Early Years Manager to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our young campers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and deliver induction training to staff, ensuring they are equipped to provide a safe and engaging environment for children.
  • Oversee the setup of camps, ensuring all necessary preparations are made to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for campers.
  • Enforce health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe environment for all staff and campers.
  • Implement the Early Years Foundation Stage, planning and delivering Explore and Play sessions that meet the needs of our young campers.
  • Act as the Designated Person for Safeguarding, dealing with child protection and safeguarding issues in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Communicate effectively with Area Managers and Central Office, providing regular updates on camp activities and any issues that may arise.
  • Participate in high-risk activities with Early Years staff, ensuring they are aware of and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Regularly check staff's understanding of safeguarding procedures, ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities and the importance of maintaining a safe environment.
  • Main contact on camp for OFSTED Inspectors, providing information and support as required.
  • Communicate with parents, completing administration tasks and managing Early Years staff as needed.
  • Ensure site and Baserooms are kept tidy, with all equipment packed away at the end of each day.
  • Assess and review staff performance, providing feedback and support to help them improve.
Requirements:
  • Early Years qualified (Primary qualified, CACHE L3, Primary PGCE, BA Primary Education)
  • Early Years experience within a childcare setting
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or have an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Provide satisfactory professional/academic references
  • Attend and deliver Induction Training Day(s), ensuring all staff are equipped to provide a safe and engaging environment for children.
  • Complete Online Training annually, staying up-to-date with the latest safeguarding procedures and best practices.
  • Coordinate pack up at the end of camp, ensuring all equipment is packed away and the site is left in a tidy condition.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Fulfil health and safety obligations, following procedures and safe systems as detailed in manuals and training.
  • Be proactive and diligent when approaching safety issues, ensuring the well-being of all staff and campers.
  • Prepare for Induction training, using relevant manuals and resources to ensure a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • Complete a staff evaluation for each staff member who reaches the end of their contract, providing feedback and support to help them improve.
  • Report child protection concerns to a Designated Person at Central Office, ensuring all issues are dealt with in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Ensure staff are aware of any children who have additional, medical, or dietary needs, making reasonable adjustments as necessary.
  • Ensure necessary medication is administered correctly, following EI forms and completing appropriate documentation.
  • Bring swimwear daily, as may be required to support a swimming session.
