Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical First Assistant to join our team at Ascension Saint Thomas. As a key member of our surgical team, you will provide direct assistance to surgeons during procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring optimal patient exposure and comfort.
  • Utilize appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis, and assist with body plane closure and wound dressing application.
  • Participate in the preparation of the surgical suite, adhering to surgeon preference cards and ensuring the availability of necessary instruments and resources.
  • Assist in room clean up and the removal of soiled case carts, supplies, and trash from the OR room as needed.
Requirements
  • BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified First Surgical Assistant certification obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, or Associate's degree/Technical degree, or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
