About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical First Assistant to join our team at Ascension Saint Thomas. As a key member of our surgical team, you will provide direct assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures, including positioning patients and utilizing stabilizing equipment.
  • Assist with visualization of the operative site, using appropriate methods and techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
  • Participate in the preparation of the surgical suite, ensuring that all necessary instruments, resources, and supplies are available.
  • Assist with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
  • Contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the surgical team.
Requirements
  • BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month of hire date.
  • Certified First Surgical Assistant certification obtained prior to hire date.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience or Associate's degree/Technical degree or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
