Job Summary

A Polysomnographic Technologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This involves polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, or patient care and education. The technologist works under the general supervision of the Medical Director and designee to collect, analyze, and integrate patient information.

Key Responsibilities

* Collect and analyze patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs
* Determine final testing parameters and procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or Medical Director and laboratory protocols
* Explain procedures to patients and prepare and calibrate testing equipment
* Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards
* Follow departmental procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data

Requirements

* Formal training in polysomnography program and/or enrolled in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with the polysomnography option
* CRT-Polysomnographic Technologist - BRPT Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists or CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care or CRT-REGISTERED_SLEEP_TECHNOLOGIST-ABSM
* CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross
