Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Development Director to join our team at UMass Dartmouth. As a key member of our Advancement division, you will be responsible for leading our major gift and annual giving efforts, while managing a portfolio of high-net-worth donors and prospects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategy
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for major gift and annual giving fundraising programs.
    • Collaborate with the Vice Chancellor for Advancement to oversee the strategic and technical aspects of our comprehensive fundraising campaign.
  • Donor Engagement and Stewardship
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with high-net-worth donors and prospects.
    • Work with Deans, faculty, and volunteers to cultivate and solicit major gifts.
  • Team Management and Development
    • Supervise and mentor a team of Advancement Officers, Directors, and Annual Giving staff.
    • Provide guidance and support to ensure the success of our fundraising efforts.
  • Communication and Reporting
    • Develop and maintain effective communication channels with the Vice Chancellor, Advancement leadership team, Deans, and other University officials.
    • Provide regular progress reports on campaign performance and identify opportunities and challenges.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience
    • Significant experience (ten or more years) in major gift fundraising and team management.
    • Proven track record of success in cultivating and soliciting major gifts.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education
    • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience
    • Experience with iModules and CRM solutions.
    • Supervisory experience in higher education.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position that requires frequent interactions with staff, managers, Deans, faculty, and donors. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects. The position requires occasional travel and may involve working evenings and weekends.
