Systems Technician

The Systems Technician is responsible for the maintenance, support, and security of the Law Enforcement Unit's security technology and communications systems.
This position requires a basic understanding of physical security and video surveillance systems, as well as network infrastructure, hardware, and software environments.
The Systems Technician will assist with the administration and support of physical security systems, including alarm, access control, and video surveillance systems.
They will also troubleshoot and mitigate problems and errors within service level targets, conduct root cause analysis of system/application incidents, and take corrective action as appropriate to prevent future occurrences.
The Systems Technician will work as part of a team to provide 24/7 LEU Systems support on a rotation schedule and will work with the Captain of Administration & Technology Section and the Command Center Lieutenant to identify vulnerabilities and problems involving the implementation of new and existing technology.
They will also ensure the security and integrity of all systems, equipment, and data, and respond to outages and other issues.
The Systems Technician will perform system administration activities for messaging systems, databases, and web applications, and will assist with implementing and enhancing processes and technical documentation.
They will also manage and implement compliance with both local IT and System policies and standards, and will assist with the coordination to plan, design, and schedule the release of all software, hardware, and operating system updates.
The Systems Technician will collaborate and participate in system audits, and will implement policies, procedures, and technical solutions.
They will also have a basic understanding of IP Subnetting and will be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
The Systems Technician will be able to lift 50 pounds, walk distances necessary to traverse the building and grounds, climb several flights of stairs, crawl under desks/consoles, work in network closets, climb ladders, operate equipment (such as lifts), operate power tools, and possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Principal Accountabilities:- Assists with the administration and support of physical security systems, including alarm, access control, and video surveillance systems.
- Troubleshoots and mitigates problems and errors within service level targets.

- Physical security experience in one or more of the following areas is desired: access control and badging systems, video surveillance, analog, IP cameras and encoder technologies, perimeter intrusion detection.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 1 year of work experience in information technology, management information systems, database management, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of IT compliance policies and procedures.
- Independent thinking, problem solving, and sound judgment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize assignments, multi-task, and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server, Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, Visio, and SharePoint.
