Position Overview:

As a key member of the Department of Corrections, you will play a vital role in transforming the lives of youth involved in the justice system. We are seeking an individual who is committed to public service and has a passion for making a positive impact on young people's lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the department's juvenile justice program coordinator, serving as a liaison to the Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention regarding the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA).
  • Manage federal title II formula grants program funds, providing essential support to the Council of Juvenile Services.
  • Facilitate a collaborative learning environment that enhances staff skills aimed at delivering interventions for positive behavior change among justice-involved youth.
  • Oversee PREA compliance efforts, including the collection of monthly statistics on PREA incidents to ensure adherence to federal standards.
  • Coordinate the eligibility process for youth accessing psychiatric residential facilities, representing the department on inter-agency review teams.
  • Organize meetings, set agendas, and serve as a liaison among various agencies involved in program development and service delivery.
  • Support the director with agency database functions to ensure data integrity, including the collection, analysis, and reporting of relevant data.
  • Coordinate training events and participate in various workgroups and special projects to assist the department in achieving its objectives.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations related to juvenile justice.
  • Understanding of department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in juvenile justice.
  • Awareness of adolescent development and the effects of trauma on behavior.
  • Insight into program development principles and implementation science.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to interpret agency goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Competence in promoting departmental priorities and services effectively.
  • Proficiency in gathering, interpreting, and utilizing information related to assigned activities.
  • Capability to assess program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Experience in training and guiding staff and service users.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with staff and the public.
