About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transmission Utility Forester to join our team at Environmental Consultants (ECI). As a key member of our vegetation management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electric service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work on transmission line wreck and rebuild projects, including ROW clearing operations and danger tree assessments.
  • Supervise the removal of trees and ensure that tree crews are following proper safety and arboricultural practices and procedures.
  • Develop vegetation management plans for landowners and farmers, and ensure that these plans are implemented effectively.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on utility vegetation management (UVM) for clients, landowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with utility engineers to assist with infrastructure upgrades and new construction.
  • Negotiate with customers for tree removal as prescribed, and perform QA/QC inspections on completed vegetation management work.
  • Identify vegetative threats to safe and reliable electric service and develop action plans to mitigate.
Requirements
  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Forestry, or one year of direct UVM experience.
  • Solid, local tree identification skills, and the ability to read maps.
  • Willingness to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills, and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, smartphones).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-5 years prior UVM, Forestry or related outdoor experience.
  • Certification as an ISA Arborist, Registered Forester, or other related certificates/licenses.
  • Prior experience using GIS software, and a strong desire to grow and develop your career and knowledge in the UVM industry with ECI.
Working Environment

This role requires the ability to work in a field environment, with frequent travel to remote locations and urban areas. The successful candidate will be required to walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time. They will also be required to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand, arm and shoulder movement in the performance of daily duties.
