Job Summary:

The State of Idaho is seeking a skilled Hearing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Commission of Pardons and Parole, you will be responsible for taking hearing minutes, recording decisions, and preparing cases for Parole Commissioner Reviews.

You will also be responsible for explaining hearing procedures, issues, and appeal rights to external stakeholders and members of the public. Additionally, you will prepare cases for analysis, assist in training staff in appropriate hearing conduct, and provide support to the Hearing Manager during Parole Hearing Sessions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of administrative duties to enable the Commissioners and Hearing Manager to function effectively.
  • Interact with members of the public.
  • Take and edit hearing minutes, record hearing decisions, and gather information for Parole Commissioner Reviews.
  • Train staff in appropriate hearing conduct and the preparation of information for hearings.
  • Coordinate and act as liaison with other agencies, concerned parties, or sections within the department regarding appeals/hearings processes.
  • Provide support to the Hearing Manager during Parole Hearing Sessions.

Requirements:

  • Some knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Some knowledge of administrative law proceedings.
  • Some knowledge of automated record systems.
  • Experience researching and interpreting laws.
  • Good knowledge of computer applications.
  • Experience taking hearing minutes and composing and editing complex documents.
