This role will report directly to the Managing Director and Chief Accounting Officer, while also engaging with key stakeholders, including family members and the Investment Committee.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Oversight and Management

  • Gain comprehensive insights into all facets of the investment portfolio, including the various investment managers, strategies, and performance metrics;
  • Continuously monitor asset allocation and investment strategies to ensure they align with the portfolio's objectives and risk tolerance; proactively suggest adjustments as necessary;
  • Prepare detailed quarterly performance reports, highlighting specific insights or concerns regarding investments;
  • Conduct thorough investment analyses and evaluations of managers, leading to informed recommendations for portfolio appropriateness;
  • Review and interpret investment reports and financial statements from sponsors, developing internal models to assess performance and address any concerns;
  • Present investment information regarding both new and existing assets;
  • Maintain a log for tracking the receipt of periodic investment reports and liaise with sponsors for any additional information required;
  • Monitor actual investment performance against projected outcomes;
  • Conduct annual valuations for each investment, with additional valuations as needed for decision-making;
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure timely and accurate implementation of all investment-related accounting and operational procedures.

Investment Underwriting

  • Identify and assess new investment opportunities and managers;
  • Develop and refine financial models used in the underwriting process, including long-term projections;
  • Conduct market and asset-level research to validate assumptions supporting potential investments; engage in discussions with prospective business opportunities and investment managers;
  • Act as the primary contact for the due diligence process;
  • Assist in drafting investment recommendations and maintaining relevant documentation.

Administrative Support

  • Support the completion and maintenance of investment compliance, ensuring all capital calls adhere to fund commitment terms;
  • Help create and maintain various reports for stakeholders;
  • Monitor and understand the income status of each investment, both for family budgets and tax estimates;
  • Assist with administrative tasks as required by the family office;
  • Uphold the confidentiality of family information, including net worth and investment details;
  • Perform a variety of non-financial tasks as requested.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Continuously enhance investment knowledge through professional development and interactions with experienced executives;
  • Stay informed on macroeconomic, technological, and political trends that could impact investment strategies or present new opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant investment experience in family office or wealth management sectors, encompassing all aspects of the investment process;
  • A bachelor's degree is required; advanced degrees or professional certifications (such as MBA, CFA, CFP) are preferred;
  • Strong investment acumen with a solid grasp of complex investment strategies;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present analysis results and recommendations;
  • Proficiency in technology and adaptability to new software applications;
  • A high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and interpersonal skills supported by references;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong financial modeling capabilities;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a focus on the overall picture;
  • Proven ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
