Position Overview:


The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a Pediatric Transplant Hepatologist.

We are in search of candidates who have demonstrated clinical excellence and significant academic contributions through their training and professional experience.


Our division is a collaborative team with a robust pediatric liver transplant program.

The multidisciplinary pediatric liver transplant team includes a pediatric transplant hepatologist, a pediatric hepatology nurse practitioner, transplant surgeons, a pediatric interventional radiologist, a pediatric dietitian, a pediatric social worker dedicated to solid organ transplant, a pediatric behavioral psychologist, transplant coordinators, pediatric liver transplant anesthesia specialists, and infectious disease experts.

Our pediatric hepatology team provides care through specialized liver transplant and pediatric hepatology outpatient clinics, with outreach services extending to various regions.

We actively participate in the SPLIT registry and offer Pediatric FibroScan services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical services to pediatric liver transplant and gastrointestinal patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care for pediatric liver and gastrointestinal patients.
  • Share inpatient service responsibilities among all division providers.
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative care for pediatric liver transplant patients.
  • Educate a diverse group of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows, through various teaching methods.
  • Engage in independent research or scholarly activities aligned with personal interests and division goals.
  • Participate in administrative and committee responsibilities to support the clinical and academic missions of the institution.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program is mandatory.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Pediatric Transplant Hepatology is essential.
  • A strong interest in academic medicine and teaching is crucial.
  • Experience in an academic medical environment is preferred.
  • Candidates seeking Associate Professor or Professor rank must meet departmental criteria for appointment or promotion.

Licensure Requirements:
  • Certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology from the American Board of Pediatrics is required.
  • Candidates must possess or be eligible for Wisconsin medical licensure.
  • Eligibility for enrollment as a billing provider and for necessary hospital privileges is required.

Work Schedule:
Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%

This position is expected to be performed in-person at a designated work location.
