Position Overview:


The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a Pediatric Transplant Hepatologist. We are in search of individuals who have demonstrated clinical excellence and academic contributions through their training and professional experience.

Our division is a collaborative group with a robust pediatric liver transplant program, supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes pediatric transplant hepatologists, nurse practitioners, transplant surgeons, interventional radiologists, dieticians, social workers, behavioral psychologists, transplant coordinators, and specialists in anesthesia and infectious diseases.

We provide specialized care through dedicated outpatient clinics and outreach services across Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Our pediatric liver transplant program is an active participant in SPLIT and is supported by the UW Health Transplant Center.

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin is a dynamic academic entity with over 200 faculty members across 16 subspecialty divisions, dedicated to enhancing child health through exceptional clinical care, education, research, and advocacy.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical services to pediatric liver transplant and gastrointestinal patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care for pediatric patients with gastrointestinal and liver conditions.
  • Share inpatient responsibilities with other division providers.
  • Oversee pre-operative and post-operative care for pediatric liver transplant patients.
  • Educate medical students, residents, and fellows through various teaching methods, including lectures and clinical supervision.
  • Engage in independent research and scholarly activities aligned with personal interests and divisional goals.
  • Participate in administrative duties and committee work to support the clinical and academic missions of the institution.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Required: Terminal Degree (MD, DO, or equivalent).
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Pediatric Transplant Hepatology.
  • A strong interest in academic medicine and teaching.
  • Experience in an academic medical environment is preferred.
  • Candidates for higher academic ranks must meet departmental criteria for appointment or promotion.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology from the American Board of Pediatrics is required.
  • Candidates must have or be eligible for Wisconsin medical licensure.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and obtain necessary hospital privileges.

Work Type:
Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%

This position requires in-person work at a designated campus location.
