The Process Operator plays a crucial role in managing the operation of automated process machinery, ensuring product quality and addressing any operational challenges that arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the rendering process from the initial raw materials to the final storage of products.
- Maintain a steady flow of materials to the cooking equipment.
- Regulate cooking temperatures, rates, and steam levels to ensure optimal processing.
- Monitor evaporation rates to adhere to established standards.
- Direct the flow of materials to pressing equipment and storage facilities.
- Operate and maintain pollution control systems effectively.
- Manage the start-up and operation of boiler systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance on processing equipment.
- Identify and troubleshoot machinery issues promptly.
- Ensure cleanliness of equipment and work areas.
- Adhere to safety protocols in accordance with company policies.
- Follow the food safety program diligently.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- High School diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural settings is advantageous.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in a rendering facility or similar production environment.
- Familiarity with mechanical rendering machinery.
- Strong mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Capability to manage minor equipment malfunctions.
- Ability to work collaboratively, including availability for night and weekend shifts.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed.
- Occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
- Regular reaching with hands and arms is required.
Work Environment
The role of Process Operator is situated within a rendering facility, which may present wet or slippery surfaces and varying temperature conditions.
