Job Title: Principal Civil Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join our team at the City of Rockville. As a key member of our Engineering Division, you will be responsible for leading complex engineering projects and managing a team of engineers and consultants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the planning, design, and implementation of capital improvement projects, including water, sewer, stormwater, and bridge projects.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of engineers and consultants to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Review and approve complex engineering plans, reports, and computations to ensure compliance with city, county, state, and federal codes and regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for engineering projects and programs.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery and community engagement.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field, plus 7 years of experience in civil engineering, or any combination of substantially equivalent education and experience.
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer and registered with the State of Maryland within one year of employment.
  • Possession of certification from the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering, including water, sewer, stormwater, and bridge design and construction.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
