Your Role:
The Milwaukee office of SmithGroup is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in Mission Critical Systems to enhance our team.

Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting analysis, design, and documentation of HVAC systems and controls.
  • Performing system evaluations and preparing comprehensive technical reports.
  • Reviewing submittals, RFIs, and contractor change orders while conducting site observations.
  • Coordinating the efforts of mechanical designers and junior staff assigned to projects.
  • Assisting with construction site visits for observations, addressing contractor inquiries, and preparing punch lists on behalf of the owner.
  • Creating and developing planning and design concepts for various projects.
  • Preparing presentation drawings and assisting in both internal and external presentations.
  • Mentoring and training junior staff members.
  • Overseeing all aspects of mechanical design and the associated disciplines.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of total experience, including 3-4 years of technical design and consulting experience in mission critical environments, specifically HVAC design for healthcare, research labs, higher education, and/or data center facilities.
  • Preferred credentials include a PE License and LEED AP certification.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Trane TRACE 700, Bluebeam, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with three-dimensional CFD modeling and analysis of data center airflow and cooling performance.
  • Expertise in designing and optimizing various mission critical cooling technologies, including air and liquid cooling systems.
