Event Manager Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Event Manager to join our team at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating multiple events, managing every aspect of their assigned events, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events, including advance planning, during the event, and post-event follow-up.
  • Manage the work of facility event staff and serve as a liaison between facility users and facility staff, service providers, public safety agencies, and event attendees.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for event personnel, analyze challenges, and identify alternative solutions.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with lessees/clients, co-workers, part-time staff, contractors, patrons/public, and municipal officials.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including long nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in a stadium, arena, convention center, or public assembly facility setting.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with major coursework in facility management, hospitality management, business, or related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, word processing, and Internet.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Virginia driver's license, possession of, or ability to obtain, a current CPR certificate.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of $58,000 to $73,000.
