Key Responsibilities
  • Verify Insurance Coverage and Benefits: Ensure that patients have adequate insurance coverage and benefits for their surgical procedures.
  • Obtain Prior Authorizations: Obtain prior authorizations for surgical procedures from insurance providers.
  • Prepare and Communicate Estimates: Prepare and communicate estimates for surgical procedures to patients and insurance providers.
  • Collect Prepayments: Collect prepayments from patients for surgical procedures.
  • Provide Financial Counseling: Provide in-depth financial counseling to patients and their families to ensure they understand their financial responsibilities.
  • Update Demographic and Financial Data: Update demographic and financial data for patients in our system.
  • Maintain Surgical Calendars: Independently maintain surgical calendars to ensure efficient use of OR time.
  • Manage Utilization of OR Time: Effectively manage utilization of scheduled OR time to maximize charges.
  • Prioritize and Post Surgical Cases: Prioritize and post surgical cases to ensure timely and efficient processing.
  • Coordinate Special Needs: Coordinate special needs for each patient's operative experience to ensure successful outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent required. Three years of business/financial/physician practice experience required.
  • Coding Knowledge: Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9/10 diagnosis coding required.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills required.
  • EPIC System Knowledge: EPIC system knowledge preferred.
