Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and a licensed physician, this role involves performing essential clinical and administrative tasks within a medical practice. The individual will be accountable for executing specific responsibilities that encompass both clinical and clerical functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage appointment scheduling and respond to incoming calls, collaborating with physicians and/or their assistants regarding messages.
  2. Welcome patients and ensure the waiting area is organized for new arrivals.
  3. Prepare patients for examinations, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
  4. Monitor patients in examination rooms, recording vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, height, and weight; document care and messages in medical records as necessary.
  5. Request ancillary services as needed.
  6. Maintain cleanliness, stock supplies, and ensure the functionality of examination rooms and equipment, reporting any malfunctions.
  7. As directed by Clinical Management, may be required to assist in other medical offices as necessary.
  8. Adjust office schedules when required.
  9. Provide support or perform additional tasks as instructed by Clinical Management.
  10. Uphold confidentiality regarding all patient information.
  11. Foster positive relations with other departments, physicians, patients, and their families, demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
  12. Assist physicians with office procedures for which specific training has been provided, excluding those involving medication administration.
  13. Complete OSHA training during initial orientation and annually fulfill OSHA competency requirements.
  14. Process and manage orders, excluding medication orders, as per Epic training.
  15. May encounter hazardous substances during the course of duties.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS: This position requires direct interaction with patients, their families, physicians, and other staff members.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required, with a preference for candidates possessing at least one year of experience in a healthcare setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The role is classified as heavy work, necessitating periods of sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. May involve lifting up to 50 pounds using appropriate body mechanics. Requires manual dexterity for operating standard office equipment, including computers, fax machines, and telephones. Adequate hearing and vision are essential for performing job responsibilities.
