Role Summary: As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Healthcare Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering patient-centered care within a specialized service environment. This position assists registered nurses in various patient care tasks, including supporting daily living activities, specimen collection, and maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Measure and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rates.
• Collect patient feedback on pain levels as part of routine assessments.
• Conduct clinical tasks such as specimen collection, venipuncture, and EKGs, while preparing for and assisting with specific procedures.
• Aid patients with daily living activities, including feeding, bathing, and mobility assistance.
• Support dietary needs by managing meal delivery and reporting any changes in eating habits to the nursing staff.
• Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, assisting with room maintenance and organization.
• Monitor patients closely for safety and well-being, particularly those at risk for elopement or self-harm.
• Maintain infection control protocols as directed by nursing staff.
• Conduct regular rounds to address patient needs, ensuring comfort and documenting observations.
• Utilize communication systems effectively to enhance patient care.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including report generation and administrative tasks.
Essential Skills:
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
• Completion of a Patient Care Orientation Program is preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience is advantageous.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and adapt to changing situations.
• Proficient communication skills in both oral and written forms.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to perform various healthcare tasks.
Educational Requirements:
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is mandatory.
