Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: This role operates under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and a licensed physician, executing essential clinical and administrative tasks as needed. The individual is accountable for fulfilling specific responsibilities related to both clinical and clerical operations within the medical facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage appointment scheduling; respond to incoming calls; collaborate with physicians and/or healthcare providers regarding messages.
  2. Welcome patients and monitor the waiting area for new arrivals.
  3. Prepare patients for examinations, ensuring a comfortable atmosphere.
  4. Check on patients in examination rooms; record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, height, and weight; document patient interactions and messages in medical records as necessary.
  5. Request ancillary services as required.
  6. Sanitize, stock, and maintain examination rooms; oversee equipment and report any malfunctions.
  7. As directed by Clinical Management, may be required to assist in other medical offices as needed.
  8. Adjust office schedules as necessary.
  9. Provide support or undertake additional tasks as instructed by Clinical Management.
  10. Uphold confidentiality regarding all patient information.
  11. Foster positive public relations with other departments, physicians, patients, and their families, demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
  12. Assist physicians with in-office procedures for which specific training has been provided, excluding tasks involving medication delivery.
  13. Participate in OSHA training during initial orientation and complete annual OSHA competency assessments.
  14. Place and pend orders, excluding medication orders, as per Epic training.
  15. May encounter hazardous substances.

INTERACTIONS: This position requires direct engagement with patients, families, physicians, and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required, with a preference for candidates possessing at least one year of experience in a healthcare setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This role is classified as heavy work. It necessitates sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required, utilizing proper body mechanics. Manual dexterity is essential for operating standard office equipment such as computers, fax machines, and telephones. Adequate hearing and vision are necessary to perform job functions effectively.
