Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and bilingual individual to join our team as a School Success Program Assistant. This role will work closely with middle school students, school staff, parents, and community service providers to develop comprehensive programs that promote student achievement and school attendance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coach and mentor Spanish-speaking students through one-on-one check-ins, student groups, and school support.
  • Monitor and evaluate student academic progress, assist students in accessing educational experiences, and help students solve personal and family issues.
  • Communicate with parents, students, and staff to convey pertinent information while maintaining confidentiality of personal information.
  • Work collaboratively with administrators, staff, parents, students, and community service providers to assist in the identification and development of procedures and agreements that promote improved student performance.
  • Administer MPS school success programs to develop and implement improvement plans that meet MPS goals and result in high-achieving learning environments for all students.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social service, psychology, or a related field.
  • Three years of demonstrated educational support experience in an urban educational environment, including group facilitation and conflict resolution.
  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
  • Culturally competent in Latin American culture.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
  • Understanding of public education issues, procedures, and practices that influence school engagement for youth.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities and special needs.
