Job Summary

This position provides customer service, information, and administrative support to Department of Human Services (DHS) clients and the public. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work in a high-volume environment, and provide top-notch customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service, information, and intervention to DHS clients and the public.
  • Conduct client intervention using multiple computer systems to assist clients directly with problem resolution.
  • Communicate with personnel to facilitate client intervention and resolve issues.
  • Issue Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards and resolve account problems.
  • Provide information on housing, rent rebate, and community agency referrals.
  • Receive incoming monies, issue receipts, and remove overpayment amounts.
  • Read and discern case comments and communicate with clients.
  • Assure quality control of client applications and provide dated receipts and customer service response forms.
  • Ensure files and incoming mail are distributed accurately to personnel.
  • Read, understand, and comply with agency letters and department policies and procedures.
  • Diffuse hostile client interactions and direct lobby traffic when necessary.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Two years of customer service experience.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to learn and proficiently use multiple computer programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a human services agency.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
