Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at Hal Smith Restaurants. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to high standards of quality and presentation.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook food to order, following established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Estimate food consumption and requisition supplies as needed.
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food to enhance presentation and appeal.
  • Regulate oven temperatures and cooking times to ensure perfect results.
  • Season and cook food to taste, using personal judgment and experience.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and de-seed fruits and vegetables for preparation.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
  • Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary practices.
  • Assist fellow team members as needed to maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Be aware of and report any safety concerns or hazards in the kitchen.
  • Answer phones in a professional manner, as trained.
  • Follow all health and safety standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain all side stations and equipment in a clean and well-stocked condition.
  • Clean up spills and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Be aware of and report any potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Attend work on time and maintain superior attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push heavy objects, up to 50 pounds.
  • Essential hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior restaurant environment, with moderate to high noise levels.
  • Limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Requires moderate physical effort.
