Job Purpose: To efficiently prepare and deliver all food orders in accordance with business demand and supervisor directives, ensuring the highest quality standards are met. This role also involves preparing items for various dining formats including a la carte service, buffets, banquets, salad bars, and hors d'oeuvres.
Job Responsibilities:
- Begin each shift by organizing and preparing the cooking station, ensuring all necessary food items are ready for service.
- Prepare all components for lunch service, including sauces, soups, and buffet entrees, transitioning from breakfast to lunch seamlessly.
- Reorganize the kitchen line and steam table to optimize cooking and service for lunch.
- Efficiently cook all orders as received from the wait staff, ensuring timely preparation and presentation of food in peak condition.
- Familiarize yourself with menus, recipes, and presentation techniques.
- Ensure proper storage of all food items in suitable containers and at appropriate temperatures.
- Cook only the necessary amount of food in advance to meet expected business volume while maintaining quality.
- Assist other kitchen departments by preparing food items that are best handled by this role.
- Prepare food items for the next shift and for the following day as directed by the Supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the work area, including countertops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration, in compliance with health regulations and safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Skills:
- Ability to prepare food products using standardized techniques.
- Proficient in using hand tools or machines necessary for food preparation, with a focus on precision.
- Capable of using basic arithmetic or geometry to determine material quantities and dimensions.
- Ability to read and follow recipes accurately.
Job Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: At least 3 months of cooking experience in a full-service restaurant or hotel environment.
Licenses/Certifications: Not applicable.
