POSITION SUMMARY:

The Culinary Specialist is responsible for the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals in accordance with established standards. This role requires a keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining food safety and sanitation protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and present food items in alignment with the outlet's standards, ensuring proper presentation and service quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety standards and regulations.
  • Estimate food requirements and manage inventory by requisitioning or purchasing supplies as needed.
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish dishes while assisting in the timely expediting of orders.
  • Monitor and adjust cooking equipment temperatures, including ovens, grills, and fryers.
  • Season and cook food items according to established recipes and personal expertise.
  • Prepare fruits and vegetables by washing, peeling, cutting, and de-seeding as necessary.
  • Measure and mix ingredients accurately using various kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Inspect food preparation areas to ensure adherence to safe and sanitary food handling practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to support a cohesive working environment.
  • Utilize various cooking methods including grilling, baking, and frying to prepare menu items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cooking line throughout the shift.
  • Restock supplies on the line according to operational specifications.
  • Clean and prepare raw food products for cooking.
  • Utilize electric equipment for food preparation tasks such as dicing and shredding.
  • Communicate preparation methods and ingredients of menu items to guests as needed.
  • Adhere to personal hygiene and sanitation standards consistently.
  • Evaluate work processes and identify opportunities for enhancing service and safety.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Remain vigilant regarding safety concerns in the work area.
  • Answer phone inquiries professionally as trained.
  • Ensure all side stations are stocked and maintained throughout the shift.
  • Address any spills or hazards promptly to maintain a safe environment.
  • Exhibit excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Utilize proper lifting techniques and wear appropriate footwear.
  • Provide feedback and information to supervisors as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying.
  • Capable of lifting and transporting items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination is essential.
  • Work is typically conducted in a restaurant kitchen environment with moderate to high noise levels.
