Job Overview

Olympic Sports and Spine's Orthopedic Residency is an 18-month clinical residency program accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) through the American Physical Therapy Association.


Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $60,000-$80,000, depending on experience. Residents are full-time employees performing job-related duties as specified within their contract for 40 hours per week.


Job Responsibilities

The residency program aims to elevate a physical therapist's competency and enhance patient-centered care within the specialty practice area of orthopedic physical therapy. The curriculum includes advanced clinical education, principles of evidence-informed practice, and processes of clinical reasoning.


Curriculum Summary

The curriculum is divided into two subsections: professional development and professional activities. The first 12 months focus on professional development in orthopedic knowledge areas, including clinical reasoning, medical considerations, treatment interventions, and more. Residents will attend six certified orthopedic manual therapy courses and take the COMT exam.


Schedule Expectations

Residents perform job-related duties for 40 hours per week and complete academic-related curricular activities outside of their clinical practice schedule. They should designate 10 hours each week for learning activities.


Minimum Eligibility Requirements
  • Graduation from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program
  • Successful completion of FSBPT's National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE)
  • Licensure to practice physical therapy within the state of Washington by the program start date
  • Active membership to the American Academy of Orthopedic Physical Therapy
