Tacoma, Washington, United States Olympic Sports and Spine Residency Opportunities Full time

As a specialist in advanced orthopaedic manual therapy, you will be part of Olympic Sports and Spine Residency Opportunities team that aims to elevate the competency of physical therapists within this subspecialty practice.

About Us

Olympic Sports and Spine Residency Opportunities is committed to providing a comprehensive clinical fellowship program accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) and the Accreditation Council for Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Education through the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

The mission of our fellowship is to develop advanced knowledge and skills in orthopaedic manual physical therapy, focusing on evidence-informed practices, clinical reasoning, and patient outcomes.

Certifications achieved by completing the fellowship program include Certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist (COMT), Spinal Manipulative Therapist (SMT), fellowship-trained in OMPT through ABPTRFE, and Fellow of AAOMPT (FAAOMPT).

A new cohort begins every year, and we invite candidates who meet the eligibility requirements to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Job Description

This 24-month clinical fellowship program consists of two main areas: clinical and academic. The clinical component includes direct patient care with FAAOMPT consultation and mentorship, while the academic component comprises 11 courses from AspireOMPT for fellows-in-training to earn their COMT and SMT certifications.

Additionally, adjunctive learning activities are provided through various series, including Exercise Rehabilitation for OMPT, Neurodynamics for OMPT, Pain Science for OMPT, and Research within OMPT.

Schedule Expectations

Fellows-in-training are employees of Olympic Sports and Spine and will perform duties outlined in their contract. A total of 150 hours of one-to-one mentorship with a FAAOMPT clinician is provided throughout the duration of the program during clinical practice.

Outside of patient care mentoring, FAAOMT faculty are available for synchronous and/or asynchronous consultation. Completion of academic-related curricular activities will be performed outside of the fellow-in-training's clinical practice schedule.
