Job Title: Communications Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Manager to join our team at The American Association of Immunologists. As a key member of our Membership & Engagement Department, you will play a critical role in shaping our communications strategy and developing engaging content to promote our mission and values.

About the Role:

The Communications Manager will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our communications strategy, including writing and editing content for various channels, managing our website and social media presence, and building relationships with journalists and other stakeholders. You will work closely with our Director of Communications and Public Communications Committee to ensure that our messaging is consistent and effective.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with our organizational goals and objectives.
  • Write and edit engaging content for various channels, including our website, social media, and email newsletters.
  • Manage our website and social media presence, including creating and scheduling content, responding to comments and messages, and analyzing engagement metrics.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and other stakeholders to secure media coverage and promote our mission and values.
  • Collaborate with our Marketing team to develop and implement campaigns that drive engagement and membership growth.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of our communications efforts, using data to inform future strategies and tactics.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, biological science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in communications, with a focus on science and/or immunology.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective communications strategies.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt to different styles and formats.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data to inform communications decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and communication.
