We are seeking dedicated individuals to work as Direct Service Professionals in support of our consumers with serious mental illness and disabilities.

Job Summary

As a Direct Service Professional, you will provide home care services to adults and children in the DC Metropolitan Area. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing assistance with personal hygiene and daily living activities
  • Creating a safe and supportive environment for consumers
  • Accompanying consumers on community outings and recreational activities
  • Assisting with meal preparation and light housekeeping
  • Conducting monthly fire drills and ensuring equipment is in good working order
  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Residential Manager
Responsibilities and Duties

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing companionship and emotional support to consumers
  • Assisting with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Preparing and serving meals and snacks
  • Assisting with light housekeeping and laundry
  • Accompanying consumers on community outings and recreational activities
  • Providing transportation to and from appointments and activities
  • Assisting with medication management and administration
  • Providing emotional support and crisis intervention as needed
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Completion of Phase I and II orientation training approved by DDA
  • Meet the minimum training and qualifications of a personal care aide, as set forth in Section 938 of Chapter 9 of Title 29 DCMR
  • Ability to effectively communicate with consumers and staff
  • Able to read and write the English language
  • Able to recognize an emergency and be knowledgeable about emergency procedures
