Position Requirements:


We are currently seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for our Intensive Care/Step Down Department at Woodland Heights Medical Center, a well-established 149-bed acute care facility.

The 42-bed unit specializes in post-cardiac catheterization, STEMI, vascular surgery, open-heart surgery, and IABP, accommodating a significant number of patients typically seen in a medical ICU (such as DKA, respiratory failure, GI bleed, post-cardiac arrest, renal failure).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing assigned patients and developing, implementing, and documenting nursing care plans.
  • Assisting physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Conducting various patient tests and administering medications within the RN's scope of practice.
  • Encouraging patient independence by setting care goals and educating patients and families about conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Utilizing your experience and judgment to plan and achieve goals.
  • Expecting a considerable degree of creativity and flexibility in your approach.
  • Generally reporting to a manager or head of your unit/department.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse certification in the State of Texas
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Familiarity with various concepts, practices, and procedures in the field
  • Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience or completion of an RN residency program
  • NIHSS certification (can be obtained post-hire)
  • CPI training or completion within six months of hire

Work Schedule:

  • 6:00 to 6:00 (12-hour day shift)
  • Availability for weekends and holidays as needed
  • Patient ratios: 2:1 (ICU), 4:1 (SD)
